Who must verify, and by when
- New directors and PSCs: verified before appointment, mandatory since 18 November 2025.
- Existing directors and PSCs: verify before your company files its next confirmation statement. The filing now requires the personal code of every director and every PSC, so one unverified person blocks the whole statement.
- Everyone: the transition ends on 18 November 2026. After that, unverified directors cannot file, cannot be appointed, and are committing an ongoing offence.
The free route, and when to use us instead
You can verify yourself free of charge through GOV.UK One Login if you have a biometric UK passport or photocard driving licence and the process behaves. Plenty of people should simply do that, and we will happily tell you so.
People choose the ACSP route when the free route does not fit: non-UK passports and overseas directors, documents One Login rejects, no smartphone or patience for the app, several directors and PSCs to verify at once, or simply wanting a professional to do it, deliver your personal code and file the confirmation statement in one sitting. What documents do I need?
For UK document checks, a passport or photocard driving licence plus proof of address usually covers it. For non-UK documents we confirm what works before you send anything, in English, Spanish or Romanian.
What is the Companies House personal code?
It is the 11-character code you receive once verified, unique to you rather than your company. You will need it for confirmation statements, new appointments and future filings, so keep it safe.
What happens if I miss the deadline?
Your company cannot file its confirmation statement, you cannot be appointed to new companies, and continuing to act as an unverified director is a criminal offence under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act. It is a ten-minute job: do not let it become a legal problem.
